Built from operating commerce, not from a whiteboard
mPorts builds commerce software and delivers the implementation services that put it to work. It was built from operating commerce: distribution created operational complexity, that complexity required better systems, those systems required reliable integrations, and connected information made an AI operating layer possible.
How it happened, in order
Each step was forced by the one before it. None of it was designed in advance.

Why the order matters
Commerce came first. Selling and distributing real products to real business buyers is what produced the operational complexity — the orders, the inventory, the fulfillment decisions, the exceptions that do not fit the process.
That complexity is what required better systems, and the systems required reliable connections to everything else a business already ran on. Once information was actually connected, it became possible to ask better questions of it. And once you can ask better questions, an AI operating layer stops being a demo and starts being useful.
That progression is the company. It is also why the software is opinionated in specific places: those opinions are the residue of operating the thing rather than specifying it.
mPorts is the next-generation commerce operations platform developed by Cenports. That is the shortest true answer to “where did this come from”, and it explains the opinions: the software was built by people who were already running the operation it manages.
What this page does not say
There is no founding date, headcount, funding figure, customer count or years-of-experience claim on this page. None of those is currently supported by evidence we would stand behind publicly, so none appears.
That is the same rule every other page here follows, and it is deliberately visible.
Questions buyers ask
- Is mPorts a software company or a services company?
- Both, and deliberately. mPorts builds commerce software and delivers the implementation services that put it to work — because the software fails at exactly the point where it has to meet a company’s real processes and decisions.
- Do you work with companies that will not use your software?
- Yes. The services engagements are about your systems and your operations. Whether mPorts software ends up involved is a separate question, and the honest answer is sometimes no.
